System overview

What makes this system different

Florida's humidity can compromise coating adhesion. Elevated moisture vapor emission from the slab is a common cause of coating failure in Central Florida. Our moisture vapor barrier system addresses elevated vapor emission at the slab level. We test every slab before we coat and recommend the right prep based on actual test results — not assumptions about age or location.

Key features

What's included

  • Addresses elevated moisture vapor emission from the slab
  • Moisture vapor test included on every job
  • Recommended when test results indicate elevated vapor emission
  • Improves coating adhesion and long-term performance
  • Pairs with any coating system

  • Crack and spall assessment included
  • Recommended before any coating on a high-vapor slab

Installation process

How it's installed

1

Moisture Vapor Test

We run a moisture vapor emission test on your slab. Results guide whether a vapor barrier is needed before coating — no guessing.

2

Diamond Grind Surface Prep

Industrial diamond grinders open the concrete pores to the correct surface profile for maximum vapor barrier adhesion.

3

Two-Part Epoxy Vapor Barrier

Commercial-grade two-part epoxy vapor barrier applied. Penetrates the slab and creates a physical barrier against moisture vapor transmission.

4

Topcoat System Applied Over Barrier

Your chosen coating system (polyaspartic flake, metallic, or solid color) is applied over the cured vapor barrier.

Common questions

Frequently asked

How do I know if my slab needs a moisture barrier?

We test every slab with a moisture vapor emission test before quoting. If readings are elevated, we recommend the barrier. We'll explain the results at the consultation.

Why do Florida slabs have more moisture issues?

Florida's high water table, humidity, and the absence of a vapor barrier under many older slabs means moisture vapor can push up through the concrete. It's a common condition, not necessarily a defect.

Is this why my previous coating failed?

Possibly. Elevated moisture vapor is a common cause of epoxy delamination in Florida. If your coating peeled or bubbled, moisture is worth investigating — we'll test and advise.

Does the moisture barrier add cost?

Yes — it adds material and labor. But it's the difference between a coating that performs long-term and one that fails prematurely. We won't coat a slab that needs a barrier without installing one.

Does the moisture barrier work with any coating system?

Yes — our vapor barrier is compatible with all of our coating systems: polyaspartic flake, metallic epoxy, and commercial solid color.
